Fun in February

At last!!  The long-awaited post is here!  Oh well... (some of us are busy running around the city in tights and pointe shoes, you know!) :-)

Sitting here enjoying the last parts of the afternoon and listening to some good jazz.  I went to the Trader Joe's of Brooklyn - it was really amazing.  That store has everything.  A historic landmark building, it used to be a bank.  The interior and ceiling height is very similar to Grand Central Station.  I won't even consider shopping anywhere else.  Everyone is really nice and I actually had a good time (though I had not even wanted to go out.)  It's only a few stops away and then not a long walk from the subway.  So now I'm stocked up again for a little while at least - but am looking forward to going back - huge selection and amazingly low prices.  Fun!

This past week was pretty good, though I physically didn't feel that great.  I felt sluggish, leaden, under some sort of haze...  I couldn't really shake it.  Hopefully this week will be better.  In the middle of last week also I awoke in the morning to incredible soreness in my legs.  Nasty - and no particular reason for it, either!  It of course affected everything else for the rest of the week.  Ugg.

The really nice day was Friday, though - the temperature went up and I (wisely) abandoned my coat.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day - warm, more moisture/humidity in the air, breezy, sunny - just delightful!  One of our classes in the afternoon ended up being canceled - something with the teacher - so most of us stepped outside for a little while and walked around a bit.  It was a scandalous luxury to be free in the afternoon sun and wind!  It was funny how liberating it felt.  I can't describe how truly nice it was.  Gorgeous day.  We had to go from one studio to the other several times during that day, so we were out and about a bit, which was really pleasant.  And then I caught a train home that evening and went to class and rehearsal for Carnival the next day - where I was thoroughly exhausted - aching, tired, hurting feet and feeling like I was made of lead.  I somehow made it through the day, thank goodness I feel "fairly" normal today.

So that's a little blurb on the past few days.  Things here at the apartment are going very well.  It's a basement apartment... an amazingly large space for one person!  I am so grateful for the support, interest, and generosity of so many people to get me here.  I'm working so much harder and better on more sleep and less stress (and don't forget, MUCH less commute!).  I'm really starting to love the city - feeling comfortable and like home...

And now that I'm no longer commuting by bus etc I'm going to try to bring a smaller bag with less items tomorrow (don't plan on being prepared for getting stranded anymore!).  Time to go organize!
