Sleep sleep everywhere and not a chance to wink

(^ Bad pun that somehow popped its way into my head)

(Warning: rather negative post)

It's been a ridiculously long time since I've gotten a chance to post...  it's a very tired bunhead typing tonight.  I've had a busy past couple of weeks - particularly this week - with an accompanying particularly insane personal schedule.  My schedule has become set, in that I awake at 5:30 every morning - and get home late.  The morning commute is easy and painless, but in the evenings, all bets are off, usually referring to the bus.  There was one day that I waited for a bus for a full hour... often it can be anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes - rarely is it 10 or 15 minutes (I'm lucky if it is!).  Because I get home late - and still have to shower, eat and get ready for the morning and next day - I have been getting to bed very late as well.  On Wednesday and Thursday night it was late - Thursday I got to bed at midnight!  I skipped doing stuff to get to bed at that time - like brushing teeth even, after doing the math as to how much sleep I would be getting (about 51/2).  You know you're not getting enough sleep when you wake up and your hair is still damp from the shower you took at 11:30 - or when you take your hair out of a bun after a full day of classes -- and it's still damp-ish!!)  Yesterday was my birthday - a good day, but a bit surreal, because it didn't feel like my birthday.  I did get 3 cakes total, though - one from my classmates, one from my host family, and one from my family! So that was nice.

I'm not a sleep obsessed person, but I'm really hurting on sleep.  Sleep deprivation is not a pleasant feeling, and I don't let myself sleep on public transportation - though truly almost everyone else does.  My solution is to not sit on the train in the morning - otherwise I will zonk.  One of the trains in the evening can be difficult too.  I'm happy to make the sacrifice though, even if it can be hard...

Hopefully more to come soon on more dancing stuff... but for now (yawn), time to try to get ahead on sleep for the week ahead!

  1. We have one thing more in common -- your alarm clock goes off when mine does in the morning, and neither of us get a full night's rest. (Full night's rest? What's that?)
